Response from Tommie Pierson, Sr., Lieutenant Governor Candidate

1. What do you view as the key role, and/or attributes needed for this position? What experience/attributes do you have that qualify you for this position?

In 2003-2010, I had the privilege of serving on the Riverview Gardens Schools District for a total of 7 years. I was President for 5.

I was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010

I am knowledgeable and passionate regarding the needs of seniors and veterans.

2. Why do you think you are the best person for this position? What differentiates you from your opponent(s)?

I believe that I am the best person for this position because; I have a very diverse background and serving the public.

I served as chair of the Advisory Committee for MO DOT for the I-64 Project. I co-wrote the Workforce Development piece. My name is on a plaque located on the Tamm Avenue Bridge in St. Louis City.

3. What do you feel are the most pressing issues currently facing this office and what plans do you have to address these issues? (please be specific)

The most pressing issue would be division in our state when it comes to race, class, economics and geographical locations.

I would also promote issues that bring us together, rather than the issues that continue to divide us.

Except all input and make the most effective decision that will benefit people in both parties.

4. Why is the selection of Lieutenant Governor important?

I was approached by serval individuals to run for the open seat for Lt. Governor. After careful consideration, I decided to run.

5. What will you do to advance the profile of your office?

I would make sure that the office is always open and fair to all citizens of this state.

6. How will you handle the schism between Republicans and Democrats in Jefferson City in order to get things done?

I will work hard to bring both parties together. It is important that we are united to better serve the people of Missouri.

7. Describe how you work with, or will work with, others to address your priorities.

It is imperative that I work with everyone, regardless of their political affiliations.

8. What particular strengths would help you defeat the Republican opponent in the November general election?

Because of my personality and diverse background, I have the ability to work with all people in Missouri, from the cities to the rural areas.

9. Who are your 3 largest campaign contributors? Do you have a policy on accepting lobbyist gifts? Are there donors from whom you will not accept campaign contributions?

My largest contributors have been unions, businesses, and political organizations.

Yes, I do have a policy when accepting gifts from contributors.

Yes, there are donors that I will not accept contributions from.
